Welcome to the ultimate clash and an electrifying artist battle between the Western Uganda King Ray G and the Ugandan act Azawi. This arose during their performance where they collided on stage.Â
Azawi of Swangz Avenue and Ray G of Awesome Entertainment found themselves at the center of attention after a heated argument on stage over the order of their performances at famous Comedy store Ug in Mbarara University Inn.
This has ofcourse sparked alot of criticism, stirring up discussions about professionalism and respect within the music industry.
Already established Azawi known for her hit songs and loyal fan base, and upcoming Ray G, were both scheduled to perform at Comedy store Ug. However, tensions escalated when Azawi felt being an already established Artist, Ray G was only meant to perform after her.
However, Ray G was seen confidently following Azawi from backstage clearly in total disagreement with Azawi’s decision of coming on first.
According to several videos that were recorded during the show, Ray G was seen composingly pleading with Azawi to let him perform first according to the lineup.
Unfortunately Azawi insisted on performing first and even asked the audience to choose who should go first.
It couldn’t settle well with Ray G who used some of  his time on stage to frustratingly express his disappointment with musicians from Kampala for consistently disrespecting regional artists.
The argument has quickly resulted into a public dispute, causing alot of attention and opinions on waves with fans and industry insiders expressing disappointment in Ugandan artists’ behavior, highlighting the need for professionalism and respect among musicians.
Uganda’s industry is characterised with artists who often fight for recognition, dominance and success over the others for example the recent Sheebah vs Cindy battle. Different fans and industry insiders went forth to their social media handles and gave different opinions regarding this issue, “But why should personal ambitions overshadow professional conduct, yet still all musicians can navigate their careers with grace and humility, Take an example from the Nigerian and even these neighbors of ours from Rwanda who are always seen chilling and working together .”
Others were like, Azawi and Ray G should come out and issue public apologies, engage in constructive dialogue with each other , and commit themselves to professionalism and respect in years to come, and the Uganda Music Association should give a resolution about this scenario.
