Seroma Limited has been given a stern warning by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regarding its significant outstanding Value-Added Tax (VAT) arrears, which amount to an astonishing Shs 90,982,015,360 (Ninety billion, nine hundred eighty-two million, fifteen thousand, three hundred sixty).
Stanley Kabyemera, the manager of debt collection at URA, emphasised the urgency and seriousness of the matter.
“You are therefore advised to settle the entire outstanding amount within seven days from the date of receiving this notice,” he stated.
Despite previous attempts made by URA to facilitate payment through an agreed instalment schedule, Seroma Limited has failed to comply with the requirements, including the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Consequently, URA has decided to escalate the issue.
“Failure to meet this demand by the stated deadline will leave us with no choice but to take legal action against you, which will be at your own cost and may result in unnecessary embarrassment. No further notice will be given,”Kabyemera reiterated.
The seriousness of the situation emphasises URA’s unwavering commitment to enforcing tax compliance and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
