The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) are not in the last sessions of finishing the mapping exercise ahead of the countrywide National Population and Housing Census that is set to happen in May 2024.
Dr. Chris Mukiza Bureau’s Executive Director says that about 97.6% of areas across the country have been fully mapped.
He also gave the directive to all the district representatives, calling them to finish the remaining mapping in one week to make sure that they beat the deadline in time.
Dr. Mukiza confirmed that all necessary tablets for the upcoming census have been successfully delivered to the country, and training sessions for enumerators are currently in progress.
The Bureau has initiated a nine-day training program for national trainers hailing from all districts and cities across Uganda, in preparation for the upcoming May census.
During these training sessions, each district and city is represented by a team of three individuals, comprising District Census Officers, their assistants, and ICT experts. This group is further augmented by personnel from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) as well as representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies involved in the census process.
