On October 4, 2024, Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda, a group dedicated to empowering young people and addressing the rising issue of drug and alcohol abuse, held an impactful event at Nabisunsa Girls School.
The packed auditorium was filled with excitement as students engaged with passionate mentors, eager to tackle one of the most pressing challenges facing today’s youth—substance abuse.
Topowa’s visit was not just a lecture; it was an interactive and eye-opening session. Honest conversations, a dynamic Q&A session, and a drama performance vividly portrayed the dangers of drugs in a relatable way. Students were encouraged to make informed decisions and take control of their futures by rejecting harmful substances.
“It was such an empowering experience,” shared one student. “I feel more confident in standing up against peer pressure now.”
The event aimed to spark change not only within the school but also in the wider community. By raising awareness and encouraging students to be role models for their peers, Topowa is creating a ripple effect of positive change, shaping a healthier, drug-free generation.
With more schools lined up for their nationwide campaign, Topowa Youth Mentoring Uganda is just getting started. Stay tuned!
