Earlier today the Ugandan Parliament donated UGX1b towards the construction of radiation bunkers at St Francis Hospital, Nsambya Cancer Unit.
The Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among made this announcement on April 24, 2024, as she launched the 13th Rotary Cancer Run that will take place on April 25, 2024.
The speaker said that the contribution is aimed towards crediting the Government’s works towards de-congesting other institutions offering cancer treatment across the country.
Speaker Among urged the administrators of the hospital to create more awareness of the facility and subsidize the prices of the services offered by the cancer institute since it was built using funds raised through donations.
“What we require from you is to create awareness and sensitize people about the very beautiful facility that is there to treat people at subsidized prices,” the speaker said.
The construction of the cancer radiotherapy bankers at Nsambya Hospital commenced in November 2021. UGX 13.8 billion is required towards the completion of the radiotherapy centre at St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya, Kampala.
