The Ugandan President, Museveni has launched the 6th National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) which will kick off on 10th May, 2024.
The census is very important because it helps in planning and service delivery across all different parts of the country and so the President has called upon all Ugandans in the country to engage in the exercise when the National census starts off in May.
President Museveni in his statement said that the census is important and also helps in collecting accurate data for the country’s development.
“As we want to achieve Uganda’s Vision 2040, our plans must be based on precise data regarding our people and resources,” he said.
The president also said that the census’s role contributes to informing government programs, and policies and also supporting sectors like the private sector, cultural and religious institutions, civil society, and development partners.
President Museveni urged all the stakeholders to come together and make the census program a success.
“Therefore, I implore all political, cultural, and religious leaders, private sector stakeholders, civil society organizations, the media, and government institutions to rally behind this crucial national initiative,” he emphasized.
The President underscored that the census holds the power to influence the welfare of every Ugandan and propel the nation towards socioeconomic advancement.
He encouraged citizens to collaborate with the census enumerators, stressing the significance of offering truthful responses to guarantee the precision of data collected concerning households, institutions, and communities.
