Earlier today, the Committee on Appointment vetted the newly appointed ministers.
Last week on 21st Thursday 2024, President Museveni made a reshuffle in his cabinet where he made some changes since 2021. The new cabinet ministers announced and also included his son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who was promoted to the CDF.
Kitgum Woman MP, Hon. Lillian Aber, has taken over as the State Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees, replacing Hon. Esther Anyakun. Meanwhile, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, the National Female Youth MP, now serves as the State Minister for Minerals, succeeding Hon. Peter Lokeris, who has been promoted to Minister for Karamoja Affairs following Mary Gitutu’s dismissal over the iron sheets scandal.
Joining the cabinet is Sironko Woman MP, Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala, appointed as the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, replacing Hon. Agnes Nandutu, also implicated in the iron sheets saga.
Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, a prominent events promoter and National Vice Chair of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), has been named Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, taking over from Sarah Mateke, who now serves as State Minister for Defence following Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth’s promotion to Minister of Defence.
Dr. Kenneth Omona, former Principal Private Secretary to the President, has been appointed as the State Minister for Northern Uganda, succeeding Grace Kwiyucwiny, who has been removed from office. All five new appointees underwent vetting by the Appointment Committee chaired by Speaker Anita Among.
