The National Unity Platform has today announced city lawyer, Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola as their candidate for the coming Kawempe North MP by-election happening next month 13th.
According to the party, the debate performance was to constitute 25% considering articulation, understanding of parliamentary roles and policy positions while 25% of the marks would come from an assessment of candidates by a vetting committee.
Meanwhile, 50% would be contributed by constituency consultations where a team was deployed to gather feedback from voters in Kawempe North on each candidate’s suitability for the position.
NUP’s chairperson of the party’s election committee, Mercy Walukamba said Nalukoola emerged winner with 71.4% defeating Umar Magala, his closet challenger.
The Kawempe North by-election is scheduled for March 13, following the death of MP Muhammad Ssegirinya on January 9 at Lubaga Hospital after being sick for a while.
