Tensions have peaked at the Tororo County NRM district political branch office, leading to its closure as a fierce power struggle unfolds between the administrator and party leaders, marked by the placement of padlocks from both factions, as well as police, on the office door.
The roots of the conflict delve into allegations of disrespect and conflicting personal interests within the office.
Tororo County leaders, spearheaded by legislator Fredrick Angura, have accused administrator Stephen Isogol of undermining their authority, while Isogol maintains that the leaders exploit the office for their own gain.
Confirming the discord, Fredrick Angura, MP for Tororo County South, remarked, “The crux of the issue lies in the persistent disrespect exhibited by the administrator towards the leadership of the office.”
In his defense, Isogol refuted the claims, asserting that the county leaders exploit the office for their personal interests.
“Our leaders are leveraging the office for their own benefit, neglecting its primary purpose,” Isogol countered.
The conflict escalated significantly when Angura announced Isogol’s dismissal, assigning caretaking responsibilities to the Registrar until further notice.
Tensions further flared following grievances from village registrars concerning unpaid dues subsequent to the cessation of the NRM registration exercise.
