District Leaders in Greater Luwero have today called for a meeting to put aside their political differences and come together to work so as to restore the beauty of their region that played a big part in bringing the NRM government into power.
According to the Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, Hon Alice Kaboyo on Wednesday held a meeting of District Chairpersons, RDCs, CAOs, RPCs, DPCs, and DISOs, from Greater Luwero at the Luwero Regional Offices held in Luwero Regional office where she said that Luwero has lagged when it comes to development even though there is increased government interventions.
“We need to ask ourselves why Greater Luwero is lagging. The government has sent money constantly but we are not developing like other districts,” she said. “I always see requisitions for building toilets, yet we have better things to do like classrooms and health facilities.”
The Minister also urged the leaders of Luwero to avoid wasting time on bad politics and rather come together and find ways to transform the people of their region.
“Let’s work together and develop our country. As for me, I don’t mind working with anybody from another political party, religion, colour, or tribe as long as we are the same cause of developing our country and they are respectful,” she added.
In the meeting, district leaders talked about problems they have in doing their jobs. One problem is when companies get too many projects and can’t finish them on time because they don’t have enough resources.
One leader also complained about people not paying back loans they took, which includes some leaders too. Minister Kaboyo told them to work harder to make people understand why it’s important to pay back loans.
Minister Kaboyo also said that the road from Wobulenzi Town Council to Bukalasa Agricultural College will be fixed this year. The money for it is in this year’s budget, and the President told her to make sure it happens.
She also praised the army for helping with construction projects in the area. Kaboyo thanked the district leaders for their hard work and said they should keep having meetings like this.
Later, Kaboyo met with NRM Administrators and sub-county registrars who finished updating the NRM national register in the region.
