The Police in Kanungu District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 45-year-old Buliga Alex, a peasant, resident of Rushenyi village, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police spokesman told the press that on 17th January 2024 at about 9 am, at Rushenyi village, Nyakatunguru ward, Kihihi town council in the Kanungu district, while mzee Bagirana Bernard Mulefu the father of Ismail [suspect] was using a shortcut to a funeral place of Muhoozi who lost a Grandson, he landed on clotted blood along the footpath.
When he turned his eyes to the right side, he saw a body and immediately called neighbours like Kasisi and others who responded and identified it as that of Buliga Alex.
Maate narrates that Police were notified, the scene of the crime was visited and documented, suspected blood samples mixed with Ash were recovered at the scene and one suspect Arinaitwe Ismail was arrested in connection with the murder for questioning.
The body that had a deep open stab wound on the left side of the chest was transported to Kihihi Mortuary for postmortem examination.
