Concerts have become a weekend tradition, with different artists lighting up stages around town and across the country.
However, RnB and reggae singer Jamal Wasswa has remained on the sidelines, despite hinting at a VIP concert for his fans back in 2023.
The Oba Wuwo hitmaker recently shared his plans in a media interview, revealing that although he is eager to hold a concert, he lacks sponsorship to make it a reality.
He explained that organizing a successful show requires proper planning and, most importantly, a sponsor.
Without one, he fears the heavy financial burden that comes with putting together such an event.
Jamal also dismissed claims that he was no longer relevant.
While his name may not be as dominant as before, he believes his old songs remain popular, perhaps even more so than much of today’s new music.
Jamal considers himself one of the few Ugandan artists with timeless hits, arguing that many recent songs trend for only a short time before fading away.
He further noted that some artists have to constantly talk about their music because it cannot stand on its own.
Despite not having a concert planned yet, Jamal remains proud of his music and confident in his legacy.
Fans will have to wait and see if he secures the support needed to bring his concert to life.
