Alliance Francaise Kampala recently organized the second edition of the French Study and Job Fair at the International French School in Lugogo, Kampala, on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The event’s main goal is to provide opportunities for participants, French educational institutions, and companies. It offers Ugandan students and job seekers the chance to attend workshops on resume writing, cover letters, and mock job interviews, preparing them for the competitive job market.
French Ambassador to Uganda, Xavier Sticker, highlighted the fair’s importance in strengthening the relationship between Uganda and France in education and employment. He emphasized the collaborative platform for dialogue and the exchange of ideas about our lives.
Oumou Diakite, the deputy head of the Africa unit at Campus France, stated that the fair aims to inform students about studying in France, even without knowing French. With over 1,000 programs taught in English, students have a variety of choices from the seven universities present.
Thomas Pellitier, President of the French Kampala Business, emphasized the recruitment efforts of French companies and their focus on engaging with students and guiding them through career pathways. French businesses in Kampala recognize the talent and potential of the Ugandan workforce.
The event features presentations from French universities, vocational training centres, and companies offering internships and job placements. Attendees can interact with representatives, gain insights into study programs, and explore career prospects in diverse fields.
Pellitier added that the fair includes internship offers, job interviews, CV writing sessions, and sample French classes. Overall, the French Study and Job Fair showcase the joint commitment of France and Uganda to promoting development and prosperity through collaborative initiatives in education and employment.
