Members of parliament serving on the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee have expressed concerns regarding the Election Commission’s substantial budget allocation and the allocation of 500 million Ugandan Shillings for organizing national prayers aimed at ensuring peaceful 2026 general elections.
They argue that this expenditure is unjustified and constitutes a waste of resources.

Furthermore, they criticize the Election Commission’s request for 18 billion Ugandan Shillings to hire private lawyers, asserting that the lawyers already employed by the government within the commission are capable of handling any electoral petitions that may arise following the elections.
