Copyright issues recently led to heated disputes and controversy involving Ugandan artists, Gravity Omutujju and Sizza Man, as they found themselves at odds over the unauthorized use of music beats.
Gravity Omutujju recently released a song titled “Twasalawo,” which caught the attention of music enthusiasts. However, it didn’t take long for the song to be taken down from YouTube due to copyright infringement. It was discovered that the beats used in “Twasalawo” were taken from Sizza Man’s song “Ndiwulira.”
Sizza Man, the original creator of the beats, expressed his disappointment and frustration over the unauthorized use of his work. He emphasized the need for artists to respect each other’s creations and seek permission before using someone else’s music or art.
Sizza Man’s management took swift action by having the song removed from YouTube, highlighting their commitment to protecting their artist’s intellectual property.
According to Sizza Man, fellow artists should recognize that creative endeavors are personal and should be treated with respect. Seeking permission not only shows respect for the original artist’s efforts but also helps to maintain the integrity of the creative process.
Artists should aim to foster positive relationships with their peers by reaching out and seeking permission before using someone else’s work. This not only avoids legal consequences but also promotes a spirit of mutual respect and support within the industry.
