Vipers FC midfielder, Abubakar Lawal has tragically passed away following a motor accident along Entebbe Road.
The Nigerian player, who had been part of the Ugandan football club for nearly three years, met his untimely demise on Monday.
According to reports, Lawal was involved in a motorcycle accident that claimed his life. The incident has left the Ugandan football community and his teammates in deep shock and mourning.
Lawal joined Vipers FC in 2022 and played a crucial role in the club’s midfield. His technical ability, agility, and commitment to the game made him a fan favorite and a key player for the Venoms.
Lawal previously played for AS Kigali before joining Vipers FC, where he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the club, a sentiment echoed by many Vipers fans.
He  scored Vipers FC’s only goal during their first and only participation in the Group stages of the CAF Champions League in a 1-1 draw against African powerhouse Raja Casablanca in 2023.
Vipers FC has yet to release an official statement, but tributes from fans, teammates, and fellow footballers have begun pouring in on all social media platforms.
