At the beginning of the week, singer Bebe Cool announced he was set to release Circumference, the first single off his Break the Chains album.
Yesterday (Friday), December 13th, at midnight, the single Circumference went live on streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Boomplay, and Audiomack, creating an early frenzy among music lovers.
The new song was layered by Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer PhilKeyz.
Circumference combines key elements of Afrobeats, such as drum patterns, brass instrumentation, and the unmissable keys.
Bebe Cool’s catchy melodies and shorter verses complete the bold production, which is fresh and timeless.
Philkeyz is not a new name on the Afrobeats scene, having worked with artists such as Kizz Daniels on songs such as Lie, Nesesari, and the 2023 viral single Cough.
Bebe Cool’s Circumference has been received relatively well by a larger audience than his usual fans.
Many music lovers have taken to their social media channels and shared videos or screen grabs of themselves listening to the song.
“l have just listened to Circumference by Bebe Cool and I think the song is good
though too short” shared a fan on X (formerly Twitter).
Circumference premiered at a time when Ugandan music was at a crossroads over the sheer lack of quality and depth, with some leaders calling media houses to ban songs by some artists over vulgar material.
While announcing Circumference, Bebe Cool remarked that this was the beginning of a new dawn, with music that is not only safe but will take Uganda’s place.
“I have always been deliberate about creating good and memorable music. I believe you will appreciate the time and energy and the team dedicated to making this music.
I’m doing this purely out of love. I have challenged myself to push boundaries with a new sound and professionalism that sets the bar where it should be.
This is an exciting time for the Ugandan music industry because I’m here to set a new standard of what it means to be an African music legend” Bebe Cool said.
Circumference is available on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Boomplay, and Audiomack, among others.
