Police in Kampala have kicked off investigations into circumstances under which thugs attacked activist Bishop Zack Niringiye as he jogged.
According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the Monday incident happened in Ntinda as Niringiye carried out a midday jog.
It is alleged that , as Bishop Niringiye approached Commercial Road, near Rock View Hotel, he was accosted by individuals on a motorcycle. The assailants allegedly struck him with a blunt object, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground,” Owoyesigyire said.
He added that during this attack, Bishop Niringiye’s iPhone 13 Pro Max was stolen.
“The victim was promptly provided with first aid at the nearest clinic and has since been discharged.”
Police said efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing, and “we are working diligently to bring those responsible to justice. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.”
This is the second time Bishop Niringiye is hit by thug after a 2021 similar incident as he walked back home at around 6pm.
