The State Minister for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba has warned Ugandans not to replicate protests like it happened in Kenya, as the same will not work.
“Don’t try this at home. Kindly tell Ugandans not to replicate what they saw in Nairobi,” Mulimba said.
Speaking on the aftermath of the deadly protests in Nairobi over the controversial finance bill, Mulimba said the Ugandan government is in talks with their Kenyan counterparts over several issues including damage to Uganda House by insisting Uganda shouldn’t be tempted to replicate Kenyan protests.
The protests in Kenya saw several properties vandalized by the rioters in Nairobi.
The 6-floor Uganda House building which was slated for reopening this past Friday too was set ablaze.
The widespread protests however forced President William Ruto to reconsider the controversial Finance Bill.
In a televised address to the nation, Ruto said he had listened to the views of the people and decided to withdraw the bill.
