Ugandan universities have been urged to promote collaboration with hospitals abroad to help Ugandans save costs of travelling institutions of higher learning can play an advisory role to patients before they seek to travel abroad to seek specialized medical treatment.
This is because specialized treatment is too expensive for patients who sometimes get stranded after travelling without proper guidance.
Speaking at the opening of the Uganda country office at Acacia Mall in  Kampala, Dr Jackson Ojera the country director of Acibadem Specialized Hospital says they have received many cases of people seeking to travel abroad yet some cases can be handled from Uganda.
Many Ugandans seek funds for treatment abroad without the knowledge that some of them are entitled to specialized medical care abroad.
Through Acibadem International, patients seeking specialized treatment abroad, especially in Turkey are given expert advice and proper guidance on how to acquire treatment in Turkey.
Dr Jackson Ojera the country director of Acibadem Specialized Hospital says many Ugandans are struggling to travel to Tukey to receive specialized treatment but end up being stranded because of a lack of information.
“it is difficult to stop referring patients for treatment abroad because there will always be the necessity for patients to travel for specialized procedures,” Dr Jackson Ojera says”
