The Government of Uganda is set to mobilize all Ugandans to take part in various wealth-creation interventions in order for everybody to be part of the money-making economy at the household level.
These projects include the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, to mention but a few.
These statements were made by Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of Information, Communication Technology, and National Guidance, during a press release that took place on May 28, 2024, at the Uganda Media Centre.
Baryomunsi stated that the government is yet to be more vigorous at mobilizing stakeholders to spread out information about wealth creation for everyone.
“We appeal to all leaders at different levels to unite and spread the information to all Ugandans. We also plan to order all radio and television stations to dedicate 2 hours a day to government wealth creation programmes like Emyooga and PDM,” Baryomunsi stated.
The Minister also added that the government is set to also carry out training and orientations on how people can access these funds and how they can use them to get out of a subsistence economy and into a money economy.
Baryomunsi went ahead and advised all Ugandans to attend the training once they commenced, regardless of their political affiliations.
“People should attend these training because this is nonpartisan, whether you’re NRM or opposition; poverty remains poverty, and it has no colour,“ he added.
The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a strategy for organizing and delivering public and private sector interventions for wealth creation, employment generation at the parish level as the lowest economic planning unit, and increasing household income across the country
