State Minister for Water and Environment, Beatrice Anywar, spearheads a call for Parliament to establish a salon to cater to the grooming needs of female legislators, aiming to enhance their engagement in parliamentary affairs.
During a morning session chaired by Speaker Anita Among, Minister Anywar commended Parliament for its gym facilities but highlighted that some women feel reluctant to utilize them due to concerns about maintaining their hair and nails.
Ms Anywar emphasized the importance of addressing the grooming needs of female legislators to ensure their comfort and participation in parliamentary activities.
Known previously as ‘Mama Mabira’ for her environmental advocacy, Anywar now champions the establishment of a salon within Parliament, highlighting the significance of appearance for legislators.
While this demand may raise eyebrows, it reflects a series of unconventional requests from Parliament in recent years, including proposals for infrastructure improvements such as a flyover connecting Bowman House to the Parliament Building.
