Ugandan President, Museveni has received a letter from His Excellency Xi Jinping the President of China, who has shown his support for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP).
Ambassador Xue Bing, representing China, delivered a message of support for Uganda’s East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project. The message was read by Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Mr. Zhang Lizhong, at Kisozi Farm on April 4th, 2024.
The EACOP project aims to transport oil from Uganda’s Lake Albert oilfields to global markets through Tanzania’s Tanga Port. China expressed commitment to collaborating with Uganda to ensure the project’s success.
President Museveni thanked China for their support and welcomed more cooperation. He proposed joint efforts to develop infrastructure, particularly a railway network, seeking technical and material assistance from China.
Additionally, President Museveni urged Chinese companies to invest in value addition at the source in Uganda, promoting employment and economic growth.
Ambassador Xue Bing conveyed President Xi Jinping’s admiration for Uganda’s achievements and emphasized China’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s stability and development.
The message from China signals ongoing bilateral cooperation and friendship between the two nations.
