Uganda Police are currently conducting investigations after a fire engulfed Cafe Bravo Restaurant located in Uganda House on Kampala Road early Friday morning.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson says the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded to a fire outbreak at Uganda House on Kampala Road suspected to have ignited at about 5 am on Friday.
“Currently, investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the fire outbreak,” he stated, emphasizing the active collection of evidence by investigators at the scene to aid in determining the origin.
Authorities mentioned that the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services promptly responded to the scene, effectively containing the fire before it could spread extensively within the building.
The café suffered significant property damage as a result of the incident.
“Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident,” stated Owoyesigyire.
Instances of fire outbreaks are uncommon in Kampala.
According to police statistics, there has been a 9% decrease in fire incidents, with the number dropping from 1,258 in 2022 to 1,144 in 2023.
