There have been ongoing disputes between the NUP leadership and Mpuuga, primarily concerning the allocation of shs500 million as a service award.
The NUP leadership urged Mpuuga to step down from his role as parliamentary commissioner, yet he remained resolute, refusing to yield to external pressure.
Mpuuga vehemently rebutted accusations of corruption, labelling such claims as baseless slander aimed at tarnishing his reputation. He stated, “To label such payments as corruption is a gross misrepresentation, driven by personal agendas rather than factual evidence.”
Recently, the party nominated Francis Zaake, the Member of Parliament for Mityana Municipality, to replace Mpuuga in his position.
In response, Mpuuga reiterated his stance, affirming his innocence and rejecting any implication of wrongdoing. He emphasized, “I maintain my innocence, both legally and ethically. I am committed to upholding the law and ethical standards, and I categorically deny any involvement in corrupt practices.”
He further reassured supporters of his unwavering dedication to the struggle for a just Uganda, asserting, “I have never been implicated in any corruption scandal, and I remain steadfast in my commitment to integrity. I refuse to be associated with corruption in any form.”
