Jose Chameleone, a renowned Ugandan musician, has been in discussions regarding a potential music battle with fellow artist Bebe Cool since last year. While anticipation for such an event remains high, recent reports indicate that Chameleone is currently focused on organizing a two-day concert at the prestigious Kampala Serena Hotel.
Scheduled to take place in August, the concert promises to be a significant event on the local music scene. Sources close to the artist have revealed that the entrance fee for attendees will be set at $100, reflecting the caliber of the performance and venue.
This forthcoming concert is not Chameleone’s first venture into hosting events at the Serena Hotel. In 2014, he organized a concert titled ‘One Man, One Million,’ which garnered attention for its unique approach to ticket pricing. Originally slated for an entrance fee of one million Ugandan Shillings (UGX), equivalent to approximately $275 at the time, the cost was later reduced to UGX 500,000 and UGX 200,000 as the event date approached.
The ‘One Man, One Million’ concert had a charitable purpose, with proceeds aimed at funding the construction of boreholes and pit latrines in various communities within the Karamoja region. Despite its noble cause, the event faced challenges in attendance and did not meet expected turnout levels.
