In 2004, the music scene in East Africa was ignited by the formation of the East African Bashment Crew, featuring Bebe Cool from Uganda and Necessary Noize comprising Wyre and Nazizi from Kenya. Together, they produced hit songs like “Fire Anthem,” “Kube,” and “Combination,” captivating audiences across the region. However, the group’s journey was cut short as each member pursued individual careers.
Speculations about a reunion have lingered among fans, longing for a revival of the group’s iconic sound. During a recent visit to Uganda, Wyre expressed optimism about the possibility of a reunion, acknowledging the challenge posed by the busy schedules of each member. Despite their commitments to music tours and radio careers, Wyre emphasized that the reunion remains a priority.
“We keep in touch, but due to people’s commitments, linking up has been a challenge,” Wyre explained. “But we never rule it out. If time allows, we are definitely going to do a comeback project.”
While logistical hurdles persist, Wyre’s assurance hints at a potential reunion that could reignite the fervor of East African music enthusiasts.
