Earlier today, a delegation from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) led by Namibia’s President-Elect, Hon Dr. Nandi Ndaitwah Netumbo, and the first-ever female president for Namibia, along with Uganda-Namibia Ambassador H.E. Hon Godfrey Kirumira, paid a courtesy visit to Hamz Stadium at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds.
The delegation was captivated by the remarkable achievement of Hamis Kiggundu, who single-handedly realized an advanced world-class stadium in Uganda.
Impressed by Mr. Kiggundu’s accomplishments, the President-Elect extended an invitation for him to replicate his success in Namibia by constructing a world-class stadium for the country, mirroring the achievement at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium in Uganda.
Mr. Kiggundu, having built the Nakivubo stadium using exclusively African resources from financing to engineering, stands as a testament to Africa’s capability to independently develop its infrastructure.
In a historic move, Mr. Kiggundu is poised to construct a second national stadium for Africa in Namibia, a testament to the continent’s potential for self-reliant development.
The newly-built stadium, designated to host matches for AFCON 2027, boasts ample parking, state-of-the-art gyms, training facilities, offices, and a health facility providing essential first aid and medical attention.
Hamz Stadium also features a modern basketball court, netball court, a boxing ring, first-class seating areas for VVIPs with self-contained executive boxes, VIP and ordinary seating, as well as hostels for players and delegates in residence.
The stadium’s standard-size football pitch has received approval from a team representing the Confederation of African Football, underscoring its readiness for AFCON 2027.
As Africa looks forward to hosting the prestigious event, the message is clear – it is time for Africans to patriotically contribute to the development of their motherland, guided by reason, reality, and the blessings of God.
