Over 22 passengers survived death as one person idea as a fuso truck with registration no UAG 615 Y from Panyimur Town Council To Arua overturned at Acwera bridge in Thidwer village in Nebbi District.
The accident happened on Sunday. A truck carrying traders from Zombo to Panyimur Town Council tipped over in Jupangira Sub-county, Nebbi District. One person died and many were hurt. Sunday Ogenmungu, the LC III chairperson of Jupangira Sub-county, said the bad UNRA road caused the accident. He said the road has many potholes.
The police chief in Nebbi, SSP Aminsi Kayondo, says many accidents happen because the trucks are not in good shape. He wants truck drivers and traffic officers to check the trucks more often.
Kayondo says people need to be careful on the roads. He also talks about how bad the roads are in Nebbi District.
Recently, Fred Byamukama talked about the bad roads in Nebbi. He said the UNRA office in Arua is supposed to fix them, but it doesn’t happen much.
These concerns arise amidst ongoing complaints from truck drivers about the state of roads in the area, compounded by numerous accident cases.
According to the 2023 police annual crime report, approximately 25 Ugandans succumb to accidents and murder-related incidents daily.
